Noble Six commemoration
North Sligo Sinn Féin have announced that a wreath laying ceremony in remembrance of ‘Sligo’s Noble Six’ takes place at Lislahelly, Glencar on Sun 18th Sept 2011 at 12 noon. The main oration will be given by Sligo/ North Leitrim TD Michael Colreavy.
2011 marks the 89th Anniversary of the killing of Brigadier Seamus Devins TD, Div. Adj. Brian McNeill, Capt. Harry Benson, Lieut. Paddy Carroll, Vols. Tommy Langan and Joe Banks – who were gunned down on Benbulben Mountain in September, 1922. Local republicans who are organizing the event would like to encourage everyone to come along on the day.
