Padraig Hallinan (Dromore West) and Thomas Healy (Ballymote District) were candidates for Sligo County Council seats in 2009.

Padraig Hallinan - Dromore West

Padraig is a 43 year old father of four and is married to Maura for 17 years. He attended Killeenduff NS, Easkey Vocational School and trained as a toolmaker in Sligo. He then moved to Donegal for nine and a half years and returned to County Sligo in 1995 where he worked in both Ballina and Sligo. Last year he started his own Precision Engineering Business in Easkey.

Padraig is standing again for election in the Dromore West Electoral area having just missed the final seat in the 2004 Local elections.

Padraig has campaigned for a business park in West Sligo, the upgrade of N59 road, playgrounds and better sporting amenities in every village.

When elected his priorities include:

  •     Create local employment,
  •     Promote tourism in the area,
  •     Upgrade N59 and improve other roads,
  •     Represent local farmers and fishermen,
  •     Sport with running track,
  •     Support renewable energy in the area,
  •     Ensure the less well off, the vulnerable and elderly are looked after.
